Windsor Upright

The Windsor Piano Company, based in Chicago, made some of the greatest ever upright pianos of the 20th Century. They were direct competitors in quality with Steinways New York and Weber New York.

This concert upright piano was saved from a very sad ending which was awaiting it, as the church in which it had lived for many decades, and brought much joy to many a congregant, was being demolished. Fortunately, there weren't enough strong guys to man handle it into the skip, so we rescued it in the nick of time!!

It has been fully restored and its casework has been ebonised and casehardened in Polyester.

The entire piano has been completely rebuilt and the very beautiful hand painted iron frame has been specially preserved, in keeping with its history.

It also has an additional celeste pedal, which was very advanced for the period.
