A Bit About Us ...

Cotswold Pianocraft was established in 1988 by David, in the centre of the Cotswolds, in Cheltenham. David comes from a very musical family, which has links to well known composers, such as Shostakovich and the professional ballet world. He trained as a chorister from early childhood at a well known establishment, which was a feeder choir for Kings College Cambridge, where he often sang.

David trained as a piano technician at the prestigious Welsh School of Instrument Making, which sadly closed over two decades ago.

His first employed position was at Gamlin's Music Centre, Cardiff, which was then the largest privately owned music shop retailer in the UK.

David went on to work for Stroud Music Centre as their Piano Technician, learning about the Cotswold District's musicians, arenas and building a deep knowledge of the plethora of the area's wonderful, longstanding, musical concerts and events.

In 1991 David qualified through the examination process, to become a member of one of the world’s finest Piano Technician Associations, namely the British Pianoforte Tuners’ Association. He went on to become a chief examiner for the Southwest, UK, testing examinees at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.

Since David established Cotswold Pianocraft, he's been privileged to work with a wealth of well known musicians and companies at a variety of venues and music festivals: Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Royal Ballet, English Touring opera, Opera Brava, Longborough Festival Opera, the Everyman Theatre: Cheltenham, Cheltenham Town hall, Marlborough Jazz Festival, Guiting Music Festival and the Three Choirs Festival, to name a few.

He has also worked with world renowned musicians, such as Angela Hewitt, Peter Donahoe, Nigel Kennedy,  Melvin Tan, Wayne Marshall, Cloe Hanslip, Herbie Handcock, the Kenny Barron Trio, Jools Holland, Elton john, & Pam Ayres!

What Our Clients Say

Bill Woodman ATC

I am writing to say how delighted I am with the restoration of my much loved Bechstein grand piano. What a result. Apart from the beautifully finished rosewood case and fittings, the instrument is now such a pleasure to play, particularly with the reduced key weight, and complex tones. The harmonies have never been so well resolved following restoration and repair of the sound board.

What can I say other than thank you for restoring my piano into something very special indeed.

Kishor - Gloucestershire

You came to check my piano today. I'm very happy. My piano plays very well. The problem is sorted. The middle sections are playing nicely and much more easily. Thank you for your help.
